Mumford & Sons

Mumford & Sons put together a festival called Gentlemen of the Road, a day of music in a few small cities around the country and then some abroad.  Their first stop was in Portland, and let me tell you...it was something to see.  Probably the best concert I've ever been to because of the music and the venue (open air on the East End with Casco Bay full of sailboats, perfect weather, etc).   The Kennebeck Journal did the best write up and images.

The best news is that people were so cool.  Not cool as in...too cool for school, but cool as in...chill.  When you get a small hoard of people together (the biggest I've seen in Portland), you worry about getting your ass trampled or that a stupid drunk will harsh your vibe or puke on your shoes.  None of that happened...the opposite, actually.  People were happy and friendly.  After the encore where all of the bands performed The Band's 'The Weight', fireworks erupted and the crowd started chanting 'U-S-A'...a bizarre choice for a bunch of hipster liberals but totally awesome nonetheless.  We were feeling it.

King Arthur

My powder white baby boy just got powder whiter by a degree of one bag of King Arthur all-purpose.  Growing up, I heard a lot about how much easier boys were to raise than girls.  It's true that Eva is a handful, but I will submit these images as exhibit A.  He refused to take a nap, so Eva and I went outside to work in the yard while Miles 'watched a show'.  Ten minutes later, this is what we found.

EXHIBIT A.
