Snap Peas and Peach Trees

My little sister gardens. She does other stuff, too, but she doesn't use L-O-V-E when she writes about grad school. Only gardening...and maybe her husband. But for sure gardening. I visited my grandparent's old Rockland farm once, a long time after they sold it and moved to Pocasmello. It was a dairy farm.  It was modest and gritty. It's a poor part of Idaho. I can see why they wanted a better life, but I can also see why they bought a new house with enough land to create a crop.  At my grandpa's funeral several years ago, all the grandkids said a few words about him.  Among other things, I noted that in the summer his breath always smelled like snap peas.

The Joy Zamboni project is running out of gas, but it was so awesome for me while it lasted. I'm not sure it was a project anyone else could relate to, but I needed to get back inside the details.  It's helping me figure out what's next for Miles and me and has eased my anxiety. I go back to work next week.  It's true what they say about not wanting to rush with the second (maybe last). We bought a peach tree yesterday, and a cranberry bush. I let him run around. I watched him ruin another pair of pants.

The new bed

Our very good friend, Mattie, made this bed.  It's stunning. I've never owned an actual bed.  We've made due with a box springs and mattress held up by a rickety metal frame.  This is the opposite of a rickety metal frame.

And this is a band Mattie recently linked to on FB.  Tells you a little bit about why we love this guy.

More joy zamboni

This is becoming a thing for me, exactly how I wanted the 'projects' page to work. I love it when things turn out.  Go see about the Joy Zamboni.

We killed the basil before we got it in the pot, but the thyme is thriving.

I fell down these stairs in the middle of the night when I was pregnant with Miles.  They're steep as hell and no where close to code.  Ferris hates them probably because of my tumbles, but I love them.  They're one of the top three things that sold me on this house. My grandma had two flights of stairs.  The front which was more grand, and the back which we used the most.  It's the same with my house.  I use these stairs because they go from our kitchen up to our bedroom.  Not to the upstairs hallway but smack into our bedroom. They're my secret get-away stairs.
