Portland Through the Lens

Some really exciting things are happening with the photography these days. It helps to know the right people. I have some fabulous neighbors who own and run a small local publishing company. They're great people, visionary, creative, and unafraid of risk. Their latest venture is a compilation of Portland images taken by local photographers. Because they know me and are familiar with my work, I guess they thought they'd hook a sista up. There are some seriously accomplished photographers in this book and some stunning photography. I sort of feel like a fraud being included among them, like the little kid playing dress up at the ball. The book just arrived and looks spectacular. Buy it for everyone you know at Warren Machine Company. It can be found on the shelves of local book stores in a few weeks.

I never thought I'd say this, but my boobs have also helped advance my career (besides the one time in college when I won amateur night at the strip club). It helps to know the right people and it helps to lactate. Ballard House is the local birth center where families go to deliver babies and women can find all they need to support maternity and postpartum stuff. I went there a few weeks ago to get fitted for a few nursing bras (cause you know these puppies need all the support they can get). My doula and friend, Lindsay, introduced me to their lactation consultant who also happened to be the woman measuring the circumference of my chest. They offered to display some of my breastfeeding photography along with handing out my cards. It's so exciting to have those pictures on display because they are, by far, my favorite work.
